Alexi's Adventure Part 3
Last week: Schools of fish slivered by, their smooth scales reflecting sunlight at Alexi, who was now being whizzed away once again. This time the chair took her down a gradual incline into a circular, black room. Alexi was apprehensive, and she could hear something walking heavily around her. A blast of hot air made her jump in her seat. Her hair stood on the back of her neck, and she tensed up.
This week: Alexi's nerves were on the fringe of snapping. The chairs moving about had made her feel dizzy, and now that she was in a pitch-black room, with some animal breathing down her neck, she was finding it hard not to scream. The animal puffed again, then snarled. Lights flickered on, and instantaneously the chair swiveled. Alexi sat face to face with a lion. A giant, snarling, lion, with razor-sharp teeth. She jumped back in front, tumbling out of her chair. Alexi hit the ground hard, and the wind was driven out of her. She rolled to the side, gasping for air.
The lion circled her once, maintaining eye contact. Alexi shook in her place, breathing in labored breaths. The large cat tensed up, stooping down to a springing position. It leapt, and Alexi screamed, scrambling to the side. She came to her knees, but to her shock, there was no lion; she knelt in a circular room, the walls a solid black, the floor a pristine white. She dropped to the floor, utterly confused. What was going on? Where had the lion gone?
"I'm terribly sorry about that," boomed the overhead voice, "a slight mistake on my part. I'm working on a holographic division of Scribbles, and I tapped into the wrong system. No worries though, the image is gone! I must be going now!"
"Wait!" Alexi yelled, pushing herself to her feet. She looked up at the ceiling, unsure of just where the voice was coming from. "I want some answers. Who are you, and what is this place? Why are you putting me through this?"
"All in good time Alexi, I assure you. As soon as your visit to my exhibits are done you may come to my studio. Until then, I hope you enjoy your stay. Ciao."
Alexi groaned, looking at the chair, her lip curled in a frustrated sort of way. Finally, since there were no visible signs of a way to escape, she plopped on the chair, and away the went. They whizzed through two more exhibits, one a prehistoric exhibit with dinosaurs, dire wolves, titanaboas, and more. The second was a comparatively mild exhibit, a replication of the South Pole.
At last the chair came to a stop in front of a pair of non-impressing, wooden doors. The chair began to sink into the floor, so Alexi hopped off of it. The door had a small gold sign with an engraving that read: Dr. Oper, Chief Holographic Expert. Alexi grabbed the brass knobs and pulled the doors open.
And so another day of Alexi's Adventure is finished! Come back next Monday to find out who Dr. Oper is, and what in the world is going on!! Tomorrow's post will be a poem dealing with Anger, written by Malachi, so be sure to come back to check it out, and comment on what you think of the blog. Till then ....
