Hey guys! Today we have an awesome short story by Mike! This story really puts into perspective the writing process and what quite a few of us writers go through when writing a story. Things are sometimes a bit- backwards- in the writing process and Mike really proves that with this short story.

In the last minute of December 11th he put the pen down and said, "There."

A few minutes before he struggled through the last few sentences, the words that would stay with the reader and give them closure. Well, it was more of the protagonist dropping a beverage in a parking lot. He reasoned that it was the perfect ending, a period on the end of a sentence that started with the emphasis on her clumsiness.

Farther into the past he finished the final battle between good and evil, the climax, the top of the arch, the explosion all of the excitement in the story was building to. Well, it was more of the protagonist's mental anguish coming to a peak when she realized she held up the line at Starbucks for ten minutes because she couldn't decide if her latte needed the serenity and safety of vanilla or the power and spontaneity of raspberry. He wondered for a moment if lattes actually came in flavors, but let it be, and made the decision for her.

Another hour into the past he confidently scribbled words down to make a character with a description that made them come alive. A character too smart and confident to be tripped up by the mundane world. Well, it was more of a block of punctuationless text worthy of being slapped in the middle of the latest and greatest chapter of My Immortal. He let himself think he would effortlessly fix it later.

Merely two minutes even before that he had a simple idea, that evolved into a sentence, that evolved into the ending of a story. He worked out more ideas, and created an epic that would be remembered forever by the ultimate sentence. In the present he looked over his newest opus, and got rid of any errors and awkward areas. He then read it through and realized it was barely a five minute read. Such is my struggle of writing stories backwards.

THE END

For those of you who didn't catch it- the title is Reverse spelled backwards. This is so very true for many of us writers, sometimes we get caught up in an idea and skip around to writing every part of it but the begining. Sometimes we get so caught up on the smaller details rather than the overall story.

For our writing followers: Do you often run into this problem when writing?
For our not so writing gifted followers: Whats your favorite Starbucks beverage?
For the folks from Massachsetts where Starbucks doesnt really exist: Whats your favorite Dunkin Donuts beverage?
