Creative Tuesday- A Poem About Lennie

8:00 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Hello to all the amazing and fabulous readers of Scribbles! Today's fan submitted work comes from the biggest Scribbles fan ever! The fabulous co-writer of Scribbles, Sarah, has a poem she would like to share! Seriously, no one can be a bigger fan than me :P I mean I write half of Scribbles

So this was a poem from her english class. They had to write a poem for Of Mice and Men from George's POV on Lennie.

Note: This contains some spoiler-ish stuff from the book, but not exactly.

Lennie
By Sarah

Hopeful dreams of rabbit farms,
A lie to keep him moving forward.
A hideaway from harm, a safe haven from running.
Broken necks of soft mice.
False promises with an echo of the repeating past.
~
He wanted to leave, but I didn't listen.
I told him to be silent
And lied to protect him.
Soft puppies, constantly petted.
His love of soft things, is dangerous
~
Broken necks of mice and men,
A never ending cycle.
Of running away from harm.
I wanted to be rid of him,
But a promise to his aunt kept me with him.
~
Soft hair and lifeless puppies.
Running towards the safe heaven.
A perpetual chain
Of repeating events.
Always running, from the echoing past.
~
I shot him out of misery,
To end the endless cycle
Of broken necks of mice and men.
Dreams of rabbit farms,
A lie that kept him hopeful.
He wanted to leave, so I let him.
~
